🍂 Autumn Wedding Colour Palettes That Photograph Beautifully

🍂 Autumn Wedding Colour Palettes That Photograph Beautifully

There’s something really special about autumn weddings. The light is softer, the air feels a little more romantic, and the colours of the season create the most beautiful backdrop for photos.

One thing I always tell couples when they’re planning their wedding is that colour choices can make a huge difference in how everything looks in photos. Some palettes just work incredibly well with autumn light and natural scenery.

If you’re planning an autumn wedding, here are a few colour combinations that photograph beautifully and always feel timeless.

  • Terracotta, Rust & Warm Neutrals

This is one of my favourite autumn palettes because it feels warm, earthy and effortlessly romantic.

Terracotta and rust tones look incredible during golden hour, and when you pair them with soft neutrals like cream or beige, everything feels balanced and elegant.

It works especially well for outdoor weddings, vineyard venues, or couples who love that slightly rustic or boho feel.

  • Burgundy, Blush & Gold

If you want something a little more classic and romantic, this combination is always beautiful.

Burgundy adds richness and depth to photos, blush keeps the palette soft and romantic, and gold details catch the light in the most beautiful way.

This palette works really well for elegant weddings and evening receptions where you want things to feel a little more luxurious.

  • Sage Green, Cream & Dusty Rose

This palette is soft, romantic and incredibly timeless.

Sage green blends beautifully with natural landscapes, which makes it perfect for garden weddings or vineyard venues. Dusty rose adds just enough colour without feeling too bold, and cream tones keep everything light and elegant.

It’s the kind of colour palette that never really goes out of style.

  • Burnt Orange, Mustard & Deep Green

If you want to fully embrace autumn colours, this palette is perfect.

Burnt orange and mustard capture the warmth of the season, while deep green adds contrast and richness. Together they create really striking photos, especially during sunset portraits.

It’s a great choice for outdoor weddings or couples who want their decor to feel vibrant and seasonal.

  • A little tip from a photographer

When choosing your wedding colours, it’s always worth thinking about how they’ll look against your venue and in natural light.

Autumn tones tend to photograph beautifully because they complement the golden light and natural scenery that this season brings.

At the end of the day though, the best palette is the one that feels like you as a couple.
